Strava: fostering community and competition
Strava is the leading social network for athletes with over 25 million monthly active users and 100 million subscribers. I was an integral member of the team focused on fostering community and competition within athletic communities. My work centered on designing engaging experiences that connect athletes and amplify their competitive spirit.

Segment leaderboards
Segment leaderboards rank athletes by their time on a segment, which are user defined sections of trails or roads.
I led the redesign of Segment Leaderboards, enhancing user engagement by emphasizing curiosity and comparison, resulting in a more interactive and motivating experience for athletes on one of the highest subscription value features.
Group Challenges
I drove the end-to-end design of the new "Group Goal" challenge type, taking it from concept to launch. The feature quickly became the second most popular challenge type.
Group challenges are a way to foster connection, community and motivation for athletes on Strava. Example: Let’s see who can run the most miles in October!
Through surveys, support tickets and in the data, we saw signal that athletes were looking for a new kind of collaborative challenge.
Solution: Group Goal, a new challenge type you can do with your friends.
